DVB-S2X Implemented by Advantech Wireless with their ASAT-II™ System

Advantech Wireless has successfully implemented DVB-S2X with their ASAT-II™ System over the Intelsat 29e EpicNG High Throughput Satellite’s (HTS) southern hemisphere spot beams.

During a live installation and demonstration in Santiago, Chile, the national TV broadcaster TVN and the system integrator Pascom were able to demonstrate the highest bandwidth efficiency over Intelsat 29e spot beams that TVN and Pascom had ever demonstrated. Using the high MODCOD (32APSK, rate 3/4 with a 5% Roll-off) of the latest DVB-S2X standard, which is unmatched and significantly outstanding compared to a 20% Roll-off previously seen. Video, data and VoIP with high quality, encouragingly exhibited by an extremely high compression ratio applied on typical traffic, managed to achieve the highest seen efficiency after compression and acceleration.

According to the company, all in attendance were impressed and particularly satisfied with the Advantech Wireless ASAT-II™ platform, including both the ASAT-II™ HUB and the E7000 DVB-S2X Terminal’s performance. As well as witnessing the unique ability of on-the-fly switching between SCPC and MF-TDMA modes, enabling dynamic waveform usage as best suited for ever changing applications.

For the local distributor and integrator of Advantech Wireless in Chile and Peru, PASCOM, they related that is has been impressive to check the easy  start-up process and the great spectral efficiency.

On the other hand, the TVN CTO Mario Sepulveda said that the company hopes the characteristics seen in the start-up tests are manifested in competitive advantages for the firm's future customers.
