New Line Of Advanced SSPAs Debut For Scientific Applications From Advantech Wireless

[Satnews] Advantech Wireless announces the company has won a major contract for supply of its new line of Advanced Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs) for Electron Accelerator Scientific Applications.

The new line of Advanced Solid State Power Amplifiers for Scientific Applications is designed for Scientific Electron Accelerator Facilities. Multiple units can be installed in the high acceleration section of the facility in order to energize the electron beams. The units operate in the frequency range of 5.7 GHz, and provide power ranging from few Watts to kWs.

This new line of Advanced Solid State Power Amplifiers includes a highly efficient and corrosion resistant liquid cooling system with high purity materials as required by research laboratory Electron Accelerators. Extremely low jitter is a critical parameter and fundamental in these applications. The SSPA units operate in dual mode, supporting either Pulsed or Constant Wave, and have advanced embedded pulse shaping technology which allows for very small jitter between pulse-to pulse sequences.

Executive Comment

“Our goal is to provide innovative and highly cost-effective solutions to our customers,” said Cristi Damian, VP Business Development at Advantech Wireless. “The Solid State Power Amplifier expertise that we have developed over the last 25 years is being adopted by new markets and applications in areas that have not seen any major architectural redesign changes in several decades. These new SSPAs have major advantages in terms of spectral purity, power efficiency, reliability, and offer remarkable cost reduction versus traditional Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) based solutions.”
