Nat'l Marine Electronics Association Graces KVH industries With Three Awards

[Satnews] KVH Industries, Inc., (Nasdaq:KVHI) announces the company has been recognized for outstanding marine electronics products by the top marine electronics professionals in the country.

KVH’s TracPhone® V3-IP received the National Marine Electronics Association’s (NMEA) 2015 Product of Excellence Award in the satellite communications antenna category; the TracVision® TV3 received the Product of Excellence Award in the satellite TV antenna category; and the TracVision TV-series app received the Product of Excellence Award in a new category for marine apps with a technical utility.

This is the 18th consecutive year that KVH has achieved the NMEA distinction for its TracVision satellite television antenna systems and the 13th time that KVH’s TracPhone satellite communications systems have been recognized. NMEA is an industry group made up of more than 600 companies, including manufacturers, dealers, and boat builders.

The new “Marine App-Technical Utility” category reflects the way marine electronics technicians and installers work today, namely with Internet-based tools accessed from their smartphones. KVH’s TracVision TV-series app was singled out for “excellence for an embedded app whose primary function is to aid technicians who install or troubleshoot marine electronics.” The app can be used when installing any one of the five TracVision TV-series antenna systems in KVH’s product line.

Winning the satellite communications antenna category, KVH’s TracPhone V3-IP is a 37 cm (14.5 inch) diameter Ku-band VSAT antenna that operates on KVH’s worldwide mini-VSAT Broadbandsm network. The ultra-compact system meets the increasing demand for broadband connectivity on boats today, delivering fast data speeds at low airtime costs, and with a terminal that can be installed on boats as small as 30 feet. The TracPhone V3-IP and its earlier variant, the TracPhone V3, have been recognized with a NMEA product award in the satellite communications antenna category for the past four years in a row.

Winning the satellite television antenna category, KVH’s TracVision TV3 is an ultra-compact marine satellite TV system ideal for powerboats and sailboats frequenting cruising areas located within 100 nautical miles offshore. The TV3 makes it possible for boaters to enjoy their favorite high-definition television programming while spending time on the water. The compact system, 37 cm (14.5 inch) diameter, includes an IP-enabled TV-Hub for easy setup and operation, and makes it possible to access system information from a smartphone, tablet, or computer. First introduced last year, the TracVision TV3 joins a long line of TracVision products that have been honored by NMEA, going back to 1998, the year NMEA first recognized a KVH TracVision system.
