L3 Telemetry and RF Products Successful Role in Iridium NEXT Satellite Constellation Launch

L3 Telemetry & RF Products (L3 T&RF) hjas revealed their CDU-100 command link decryptor and InControl™ command software successfully supported the January 14 launch of the first group of 10 Iridium NEXT satellites from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.

Iridium NEXT marks the largest order for L3’s CDU-100, with a total of 80 units to be delivered for the full constellation. Each Iridium NEXT satellite currently carries the L3 T&RF CDU-100 — a command link decryptor that meets CNSSP-12 policy requirements to enable satellite support of US government missions.

L3 T&RF also provides their InControl software in support of satellite fleet on orbit operations for the Iridium Satellite Control Segment (SCS). InControl is specifically designed for satellite command and telemetry processing, general state-of-health monitoring, and anomaly identification and correction. It also includes several additional tools that will help keep the Iridium NEXT fleet healthy and operational.

Iridium NEXT is a next-generation satellite constellation that will replace and enhance Iridium’s existing network of low-Earth orbit satellites. L3 Telemetry & RF Products (L3 T&RF) is a full-service manufacturer of state-of-the-art communication and telemetry solutions for space, airborne, terrestrial and maritime application with integrated solutions that combine the latest-generation technologies and proven processes which are provided to defense, intelligence and government agencies, as well as international and commercial organizations.
