There is a new General Counsel at Asia Satellite Telecommunications who will be stepping in after the former lady in this office served for more than 23 years. The new lady on board brings substantial expertise with the ability to practice law on several continents.
Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Limited (AsiaSat), announced today the appointment of its new General Counsel, Saphina Ho.
Ms. Ho will be succeeding Catherine Chang, who served the company for more than 23 years. Saphina will be a member of the management team, overseeing all legal affairs of the company.
Andrew Jordan, President and Chief Executive Officer of AsiaSat stated that they welcome Saphina to AsiaSat with much enthusiasm, as her expertise and substantial legal experience will contribute to the company’s continued success, and they are confident that Saphina will succeed in maintaining the company’s stature and reputation as the leading satellite operator in Asia.
Jordan added that they would also like to thank Catherine Chang for over 23 years of outstanding and dedicated service to AsiaSat. Catherine has been a very strong leader, and one who has set up AsiaSat’s legal department and since 1994 led a professional team in making a hugely positive contribution to the continued growth of the company, and they wish her all the best for her next chapter.
Saphina Ho, General Counsel of AsiaSat said that she is delighted to begin this new role, especially while joining during the upcoming launch of the company’s most powerful satellite, AsiaSat 9, and that she looks forward to working closely with each department to help drive the growth and distinction of the company.
Saphina Ho has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, specializing in regional and corporate legal matters.
Prior to joining AsiaSat, she was the Assistant General Counsel of Pacnet Global, and also worked for New World Mobility and Global One as in-house lawyer. She is a qualified solicitor in Hong Kong, and England and Wales, and has Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor’s Degree in Laws from the Manchester Metropolitan University.
