The MGAS anchor stations — located at three sites across Canada — will communicate with the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellite constellation and link them to existing Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) communications infrastructure.
Mercury Global will provide the CAF with assured access to wideband MILSATCOM. The CAF will ultimately have access to bandwidth from the nine WGS satellite constellation and use three anchor sites located in Eastern, Central and Western Canada.
A wide range of ETL’s RF equipment has been used as part of the WGS project, including the company's highly linear receive matrix system on down links and combining matrix on the uplink. Additionally, ETL’s Alto line amplifiers are being used for both the satellite’s transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) links at the MGAS anchor stations. ETL designed the RF parameters of the matrices and amplifiers in order to adhere to strict government specifications.
