BridgeSat's New Senior VP Of Operations Comes w/Worldwide Operational Experience

Joseph Campagna as Senior Vice President of Operations

[Satnews] BridgeSat, Inc. today announced the appointment of Joseph Campagna as Senior Vice President of Operations to lead the development of the company’s ground-station network, an integral part of BridgeSat’s optical connectivity data transmission system.

Campagna has more than 25 years of worldwide operational experience building ground systems for satellites, including senior management positions at Global Ground Systems, Vectronix Inc., Orbital ATK, Motorola-Iridium Satellite Communications and the US Air Force.  At BridgeSat, Campagna’s leadership and expertise will be instrumental in helping the company realize the benefits of its space-based optical communications technology and bring it into daily operational use. BridgeSat’s system aims to improve the transfer of data from satellites and high-altitude unmanned vehicles (UAVs) by removing the barriers that currently exist with radio-frequency spectrum for carrying large volumes of data from space to the ground.

“We are excited to welcome Joe to our growing team at BridgeSat,” said Roger Yang, BridgeSat’s co-General Manager who is also a Vice President at its parent company, Allied Minds (LSE: ALM). “Joe's leadership and experience with complex ground networks and operations makes him ideally suited to the challenges of creating our optical communications network.”

The development of the ground-station network will allow BridgeSat to offer a downlink-as-a-service system, a cost-effective alternative to traditional radio-frequency programs that is fast, secure, and provides greater bandwidth and low latency.

Prior to joining BridgeSat, Campagna founded and led Global Ground Systems as CEO and Chief Engineer, focusing on ground system design, systems analysis and business development for a multitude of commercial and U.S. Department of Defense-related customers.

Previously, Campagna served as Director of Ground Systems Engineering at Orbital Sciences (now Orbital ATK), where he oversaw ground system program management, design, installation and long-term support for GEO and LEO missions. He also was a key member of the ground system installation and launch of the Iridium Satellite Constellation. Campagna holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland in Aerospace Engineering Management and a Leadership Certificate from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.

“I have spent my career building, integrating and operating complex ground systems since I was in the Air Force. Joining BridgeSat to lead this critical element of the company is a natural next step for me,” said Campagna.
