Debuting @ Satellite 2015 Is CPI Satcom Products New SuperLinear TWTA

[SatNews]  The Satcom Division of Communications & Power Industries LLC (CPI) is introducing its new 750 W SuperLinear® Ku-band outdoor traveling wave tube amplifier (TWTA) at next week’s SATELLITE 2015 Conference and Exhibition in Washington, D.C.

CPI’s new Ku-band outdoor amplifier (ODU) is optimized for highest efficiency at the linear operating output point, and is 30 percent smaller and lighter than CPI’s 750 W CW version of the product.

“Most of our commercial and military customers are always interested in more efficient products that come in smaller and lighter packages,” said Mark Yount, CPI Satcom’s director of business development for military products.  “CPI’s new 750 W Ku-band SuperLinear® TWTA fulfills these goals.  Its light weight makes it ideal for hub-mount applications, and its high efficiency makes it an excellent choice for continuous, 24-hour per day, operation.  For example, CPI’s newest amplifier consumes only 1.5 kVA of prime power and weighs only 55 pounds, while the latest comparable high power GaN SSPAs typically consume more than 3.5 kVA and weigh more than 100 pounds.”

CPI’s new 750 W Ku-band TWTA provides 315 W of linear output power at the flange.
