Satellite Industry Association Welcomes Him Now Officially Appointed FCC Chief

He's been doing the job in an 'acting' capacity and now, Tom Sullivan has been appointed chief of the International Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The following is a statement made by SIA.

The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today welcomed the news that Tom Sullivan has been appointed chief of the International Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), continuing the work he has been doing as acting chief. Previously, Mr. Sullivan served in a variety of positions for the FCC including associate bureau chief and chief of staff for the Bureau.

“SIA applauds and congratulates Tom Sullivan on his appointment to chief of the International Bureau,” said Tom Stroup, President of SIA. “Mr. Sullivan is a dedicated public servant who has provided long term support to the satellite industry and the Association. SIA looks forward to continuing to work with him, the Bureau and the Commission on global spectrum policy and other international matters concerning the domestic satellite industry.”

The FCC’s International Bureau administers international telecommunications and satellite programs and policies, including licensing and regulatory functions. The bureau also promotes pro-competitive policies abroad, coordinates global spectrum and telecommunications activities, and advocates U.S. interests internationally.
