Moving On Up... GVF Names Haslam To Board Of Directors

[Satnews] The international satellite communications industry has elected Tracey Haslam, president of Harris CapRock Communications, to serve on the Global VSAT Forum’s (GVF) Board of Directors.

The GVF Board leads the association as it continues to create greater awareness of the commercial, economic, political and technological advantages provided by satellite broadband and broadcasting solutions. The vote was held in conjunction with the GVF High Throughput Satellite (HTS) Roundtable London 2015: Game Changer or New Game event on December 2, the seventh in an annual roundtable series that aims to drive dialogue around HTS technologies; services and network security; deployment ecosystems and user markets; and solutions engineering.

As a GVF member organization, Harris CapRock has demonstrated proficiency in one of the organization’s key priorities of building core competencies by strategically improving the skills and knowledge of technicians and operators. As a result of Haslam’s diligence towards training and certification, Harris CapRock has become the only company to meet the stringent standards set forth by the GVF to achieve Accredited Organization status for two consecutive years.

Haslam leads Harris CapRock to focus on customer intimacy, compelling technology, complexity reduction, cost savings and a culture of safety. Her goal of creating a unique customer experience, from design to delivery, raises the expectation for communications providers to develop technologies that are flexible, efficient and exceed expectations. Additionally, while the energy sector has long prioritized safety, Haslam sees a need for the satellite industry to advance its safety focus in response to expanded interest in overall employee well being, additional regulations and sophisticated accounting practices that identify the real costs of poor safety performance. At Harris CapRock, the robust safety program she has implemented has led to a 39-percent reduction in its global Total Recordable Incident Rate.

Harris CapRock Communications is a premier global provider of managed satellite, terrestrial and wireless communications solutions for the maritime, energy and government markets. Harris CapRock owns and operates a robust global infrastructure that includes teleports on six continents, five 24/7 customer support centers, a local presence in 24 countries and hundreds of global field service personnel supporting customer locations across North America, Central and South America, Europe, West Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific. GVF promotes higher standards of service, greater levels of market access, improved regulatory conditions and heightened awareness by the public and private sectors of the advantages afforded by state-of-the-art satellite-based fixed and mobile solutions,” said David Hartshorn, secretary general, GVF. “Haslam’s guidance of Harris CapRock to set new standards in areas she has defined as differentiators across the communications industry will bring a welcome vision to GVF, and we look forward to drawing upon her expertise.”

Harris CapRock is proud to be one of more than 230 member companies based in every region of the world working with GVF to facilitate access to satellite communications solutions globally,” said Haslam. “I am honored to join my peers on the board and look forward to continuing to address challenges and opportunities with a unified voice during this exciting time for our industry.
