SkyCasters + Ka You Communications... EAS CAP Compliance (SatBroadcasting™)

[SatNews] SkyCasters has partnered with Ka You Communications on a....

....turnkey satellite communications solution for EAS CAP compliance. Named IPReady, this solution provides the vital, secure Internet link operators need at transmitter location. As the connection is satellite-based, it can be established independent of terrestrial lines and is immune to the vulnerabilities of landlines. The FCC has mandated that all radio stations adopt a new Emergency Alert System/Common Alerting Protocol (EAS CAP) which requires that transmitter sites throughout the United States are connected to the IPAWS (Integrated Public Alert and Warning System) database via an Internet connection. A reliable Internet link with a static IP address, IPReady is ideal for the many transmitter sites throughout the U.S. located in remote areas (such as on top of mountains or in valleys).

The new deadline for all radio stations to adopt EAS CAP is June 30, 2012. As the countdown to compliance continues, radio operators must be sure that all of their transmitter sites are reliably connected to the Internet, a very real problem for radio operators with transmitters in remote locations. Despite these challenges, every tower will be required by the FCC to have an IP connection in order to relay EAS messages. IPReady uses the iDirect satellite platform to link all transmitters to the network. Keeping the entire network on a single platform allows for simplified operation and remote command and control over transmitters from the operator's home base. Skycasters business grade satellite Internet network allows for remote transmitter control with systems from Burke, Moseley, Larcan, and other manufacturers.
